2019 Fall Innovation Roundtable – Jagdeep Chahal Speaker Profile

On November 7, 2019 from 2pm to 4pm we will be hosting the 2019 Spring Innovation Roundtable. This is a conference where outstanding critical care nurses from around the province will gather to present exciting work and research that is happening in British Columbia.

Jagdeep Chahal, RN, MSN

Registered Nurse, Surrey Memorial Hospital ICU

Topic: Post ICU Syndrome


This presentation will introduce critical care nurses to Post-Intensive Care Syndrome (PICS) and discuss what can be done to mitigate the inadvertent physical, cognitive and psychological symptoms present after surviving critical illness, The goal of this session is to aide critical care nursing dialogue with institutional leaders on methods of optimizing intensive care unit (ICU) survivorship in respective settings.

Jagdeep Chahal graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Thompson Rivers University in 2012. She went on to complete her critical care nursing specialty in 2013 from the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Jagdeep began her critical care nursing practice at Surrey Memorial Hospital ICU in 2013 and is still currently practicing. In 2017, Jagdeep began teaching as a nurse instructor for the BSN program and the faculty of health at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Langley. In 2018, she graduated from the Master of Science in Nursing program from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
